Hiring a professional makeup artist can do so many things for your wedding day look. An experienced makeup artist will enhance your natural beauty and can work with you to complete the statement you are trying to make with all the other components of your wedding like the perfect dress, hair and jewelry. Whether you want to look glowing, smokey, sexy, glamorous or something in between a makeup artist can help you achieve your style.
A good makeup artist will also know how to create a beautiful look for you that is natural in reality but that also looks beautiful in photos. The way you wear your makeup every day may not be photo friendly. Certain sunscreens in makeup and moisturizer can make your face look lighter than the rest of your body. Redness and shine can creep through when the camera flashes. Your eyes, brows, lips and cheeks may not be defined and will be washed away in your photos.
Hiring a makeup artist is typically one of the least expensive things you can do for yourself and yet there are so many advantages. You will not have to purchase of tons of products you may never use again and you'll have the convenience of someone coming to you on your wedding day rather than having to go to them.
I recently had a bride tell me her friend scheduled an appointment at a mall makeup counter for her wedding day. Even though she had an appointment and had paid a booking fee, they told her they were short handed and were just too busy to do her makeup...so she had to buy a bunch of makeup she didn't know how to use and put it on herself not really knowing how. Talk about stress!
All this is not to mention, if you go to a makeup counter they will only use their line of cosmetics. A professional makeup artist will have a variety of products, formulas and tricks to give you the look you need rather than the one their company wants you to have!
If you do choose to do your own makeup, brush up on some looks ahead of time. Do your research and practice. Don't try to do anything out of the ordinary. If you typically are a clear gloss and mascara only girl, don't try a smokey eye or red lip. You want to look like yourself, but extra radiant and flawless.
